Brooklyn, New York born singer/songwriter, Angelique (Puerto Rican) and Atlantic County, New Jersey born rapper, La Cangri (Salvadorian) began their music careers as solo artists. Meeting through mutual friends in November 2005, they immediately respected and recognized each other’s talent and wrote their first song, "Le pago". Further collaboration produced "Una fiera como yo", and from then on, the duo became known as "Las Fieras", which loosely translates as "the female beasts". The duo chose this name to represent who they are: strong, fierce and fearless young women who are ready to make their mark on the music scene with their unique sound, style and unbridled high energy performances. Wanting to begin work on their debut album immediately, Las Fieras quickly got into the studio and recorded the infectious dance single "Baila", which is rapidly climbing up the reggaeton, urban and dance charts internationally. Moving from the studio to the stage in July 2006 gave Las Fieras the opportunity to share their irresistible, high-energy sound at their debut live performance at Club 10 West in Galloway, NJ. They have performed at the following places in 2006: Annual Puerto Rican Day Parade in Atlantic City, NJ, the Annual Latin Festival at the Historic Gardeners Basin in Atlantic City, NJ, Latin Festival at 5th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY, China Club in Manhattan, NY and Club Tru in Atlantic City. The single “Baila” was picked up and played in heavy rotation by XM Satellite Radio Fuego XM90 in October 2006.
Las Fieras kicked off 2007 with a powerful and well received performance at Passion Night Club in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and added the hot new single, “Esta tentondome”, to the XM Fuego 90 play list. Many exciting things lay in store this year, including an invite to attend the ASCAP Latin Music Awards in New York City in March.
